ABOUT THE CONTENT

The May 6, 2010 Flash Crash represented one of the most turbulent periods in the history of financial markets. It was the genesis of the Consolidated Audit Trail (CAT) because regulators and firms couldn’t play back market events and look at cause and effect. CAT centralizes all activities including orders and executions to one location. 2019 begins the test period by which broker/dealers must report CAT data into a data repository. It is projected to become the largest database in the world.
[push h=5]
Our industry panel will discuss lessons learned, experiences and recommendations in an informal fashion without recordings, press, or social media hampering our exchange of knowledge.
[push h=20]
DISCUSSION TOPICS[push h=5]

  • Understanding the data privacy issues [push h=10]
  • Learnings from SRO’s experiences depositing files into the CAT database[push h=10]
  • How leading broker/dealers are preparing for the deadline[push h=10]
  • What are the long term benefits including  the ability to playback the market, generate insights/analytics, and operational improvements[push h=10]
  • Understanding the IT infrastructure and interconnection requirements of CAT[push h=10]
